JOHANNESBURG – The man who claims he killed a farmworker in Modimolle after mistaking him for a warthog is expected back in court in June.
Stefan Hepburn was arrested in February after he shot Jan Railo in Tuinplaas.
He made another brief court appearance on Thursday.
The police’s Motlaefela Mojapelo says the case was postponed because the court still needs a forensic report from investigators.
"The man accused of killing a farmworker appeared in Modimolle magistrates court. The case has been remanded until 29 June for further investigation. Apparently, they’re still waiting for forensic report."
Hepburn’s R15,000 bail has been extended.
He told police that he and a friend were hunting for warthogs when he heard a sound and fired shots in that direction.
He says that upon closer inspection the two realised that he had actually shot Railo.
