CAPE TOWN - The R43 road which passes Avian Park in Worcester has been closed and traffic has been rerouted due to a gang shootout between two gang groupings from Avian Park.
The shooting took place on Monday.
The local SAPS Stabilisation Unit and the Public Order Policing unit have been deployed to quell any gang violence flare ups.
At the same time, three houses have been set alight amid gang warfare in Worcester.
No one has been wounded.
The police’s Julian Plaatjies said: “The houses are either property of some of the gang members or the gang members themselves. But police are monitoring the area.”
Meanwhile, last week two people were killed in separate gang-related shootings in the same area.
The second shooting was believed to be a revenge attack following the murder of a young man.
Both incidents are thought to be gang related.
