Office of the Chief Justice awaits update on burglary probe

JOHANNESBURG – The Office of the Chief Justice says it is still awaiting an update from the police on the investigation into the 15 stolen computers from the office's human resource unit in Midrand on Saturday.

Just a day after the incident, a number of individuals have been seen assessing the premises.

Police responded to the situation on Saturday morning after being alerted by the office.

There are concerns that the computers contain highly sensitive information on the country’s top judges.

While there are no police vehicles in sight, staff members have told Eyewitness News that a meeting concerning security is underway.

Security officials can be seen walking around the premises with some pointing at different sections of the office's fence.

Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has urged the police to do all they can to ensure those responsible and the computers are found.

The sensitive information contained in the computers is said to be personal details of 250 judges.

Police say the investigations are continuing.
