Vink’s mother Danlee has put up a post on Facebook saying: “My heart is ripped out, my darling, beautiful kind son, so pointlessly and savagely ripped from me”.

Vink had been on life support but it is unclear if he has died, although there are dozens of responses to Danlee’s post offering her condolences.

Many have remembered Vink’s talent as an artist and his passion for surfing. His own Facebook profile is an album of trips he took around the world to indulge his hobbies.

Meanwhile, police have been on the scene at Mitzy’s Pub on Thursday although no arrests have been made, despite many locals recognising the perpetrator in the CCTV footage.
