CAPE TOWN - A farmworker's rights group on the West Coast has welcomed a decision to deny bail to a farmer accused of killing a farmworker.
Martin Visser appeared in the Vredendal Magistrates Court in connection with the murder of Adam Pieterse, whose remains were found in a shallow grave in Lutzville last year.
Billy Claassen of the Rural and Farm Worker Development organisation says the court’s decision provides relief.
“I think this is a victory for farmworkers. We want the farming communities to take a hand, so we can root out all these evil things on farms so we can live in peace and harmony in farms.”
