'Zuma, govt must be protected from the media'

CAPE TOWN - Minister of Higher Education and Training Dr Blade Nzimande has called on all progressive organisations to defend government and President Jacob Zuma from the media.

Nzimande attended the Progressive Professionals Forum (PPF) in Midrand with Zuma today and lamented the fourth estate for what he says is the inadequate coverage of the countries successes.
The forum is celebrating its first anniversary and is being addressed by President Jacob Zuma and Nzimande.

Nzimande claims special emphasis is being placed on delegitimising Zuma in the public arena.

“President Zuma’s achievements are enormous yet at the same time, he is subjected to such attacks by the media. There is a very big offensive against our government with the president as a special target.”

The minister said the media is trying to bring about regime change in South Africa.

“There are sections of the media where they have told themselves that they want a regime change in this country and the president is the main target.”
